The client, a Cape Town based property developer sought to take advantage of the booming property market at the time with an apartment block offering. There was an existing house on the property, protected by heritage rights.

Following a lengthy process to obtain heritage concent do demolish an existing house, the result was a luxury apartment building each unit with pool and planterbox balconies, with basement parking and a penthouse that occupied the entire top floor. Needless to say the views are enought to take one’s breath.

Working under principal architect Jacques van Niekerk, I was responsible for developing the design, drawings for construction and council approval, obtaining all approvals and managing the construction.

I took the plans through a complex series of applications for Land-Use Management, Greenpoint Property Owners Association, Heritage and Building Plans Approval and eventually obtained full council approval to develop.
