Raymond Oloo is an architectural designer currently based in Johannesburg, South Africa. He is the founder and principal at Urban Projects, an architecture and design studio engaged in commercial, hospitality and residential projects. Raymond has led design teams and overseen construction of civic, commercial, cultural, residential, institutional and urban planning projects in Africa, Europe and the Middle East. Previously, he worked at atelier masomi (now Mariam Issoufou Architects), an award-winning design firm based in Niamey, Niger.
Raymond was born in Nairobi and grew up in Durban. He took an interest in art and design from a young age and went on to pursue a degree in architecture, graduating from the University of Cape Town in 2011. After university, he returned to Durban where he cut his teeth working for a number of architecture firms and later a geotechnical engineering start-up where he served a Project Manager and helped in all aspects of getting the business off the ground. He later returned to Cape Town and the field of architecture, in 2016, where he worked on high-end residential developments at FLUX architecture.
